Sir Jonathan Miller, CBE, is a British physician, theatre and opera director and television writer and producer. Miller first came to prominence in 1962 when the British comedy stage revue Beyond the Fringe he helped found ran on Broadway. He has directed and produced a number of operas, including The Marriage of Figaro for the English National Opera and La Traviata for Glimmerglass Opera. In addition, Miller has produced many noteworthy series for the BBC, such as The Body in Question; Jonathan Miller’s Brief History of Disbelief; and a series of Shakespeare plays. Miller is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London and Edinburgh, and a Foreign Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was knighted in 2002.
