Alex Madva did his graduate work at Columbia University, where he worked on philosophy of psychology. His dissertation, The Hidden Mechanisms of Prejudice: Implicit Bias & Interpersonal Fluency, is about prejudice. It examines the psychological nature of implicit social biases, and argues that understanding their particular character informs what we ought to do to address their harms. As a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the department of Philosophy, Dr. Madva will teach courses on feminist philosophy, phenomenology, and the intersection of social psychology and philosophy.
