Eliah Bures received his BA in History and German from the University of Kansas and MA and PhD in History from UC Berkeley. He argued in his dissertation that friendship was central to the thinking of German radical conservatives from the years before WWI to the emergence of the New Right beginning in the 1970s. He has previously received grants and fellowships in Germany from the Gerda Henkel Stiftung and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). At IE he will teach two courses covering the history of international relations from early European contact with the Americas to the present.
