Nora Jacobsen Ben Hammed explores the fascinating ways in which classical Islamic philosophy transformed Islamic theology and mysticism in the post-classical (post-12th century) period. Her current work focuses on the philosophical theologian Fakhr al-Dīn al-Rāzī (d. 1210), who shaped the disciplines of Islamic theology (kalām) as well as the occult sciences in the medieval Islamic world.
