Ronald Hendel is the Norma and Sam Dabby Professor of Hebrew Bible and Jewish Studies in the Near Eastern Studies Department. His research approaches the text of the Hebrew Bible from several disciplines, including the history of religions, textual criticism, linguistics, comparative mythology, literature, and cultural studies. His books include Remembering Abraham: Culture, Memory, and History in the Hebrew Bible; The Text of Genesis 1-11; and The Epic of the Patriarch. Professor Hendel is also currently the editor-in-chief of Oxford University Press.
