Bill Cunningham New York (2011)
Directed by Richard Press

Tables are delicately turned when a pillar of New York Fashion photography becomes himself the subject of the camera’s gaze in Richard Press’ 2011 documentary. For the last three decades, Bill Cunningham’s photo columns in the New York Times have documented and defined emerging trends and established stars both on the streets and in the city’s more exclusive circles. Following him as he navigates the maze of city streets on his trademark Schwinn in his equally familiar blue smock, Press captures both Cunningham’s clear familiarity with an elite level of celebrity as well as the unassuming humility he brings to his own work and personal life.
