Geballe Room, 220 Stephens Hall
Beginning with the rise of modern graffiti techniques in the early 1970s, Bomb It gives a voice to the night artists working on the sides of trains, walls, and in the streets. Moving from city to city—ranging from New York to Paris, São Paulo to Tokyo, and Los Angeles to Cape Town—the film permits graffiti artists to speak candidly and persuasively about the significance of their art. This global conversation via graffiti is presented as a means of expression of the individual artist, of politics, and of community. The similarities and differences of the individual artists come together to emphasize the fundamental human desire for expression, for beauty and art, and for making a mark in the world.
