In Uganda, a new bill threatens to further criminalize homosexuality and make it punishable by death. Fueled by the 2011 murder of David Kato, Uganda’s first openly gay man and famous LGBT activist, friends and fellow activists band together in their struggle to stop the passing of the proposed “anti-homosexuality bill” and fight for their human rights. Call Me Kuchu features a series of intimate portraits of “kuchus” (the Ugandan term for “queers”) as they describe their devastating experiences living in Uganda under these stringent laws.
