Fellowship Proposal Workshop

Crafting Successful Proposals for Humanities Fellowship Competitions
Professional Development
-

This workshop helps faculty and advanced graduate students in the humanities develop successful proposal writing strategies for major fellowship competitions such as the NEH, ACLS, and Guggenheim. The session focuses on 2020 postdoctoral fellowship competitions (for funding in 2021-22) and does not address support for dissertation research.

Christina Gillis, founding associate director of the Townsend Center for the Humanities and former program officer at the ACLS, provides an overview of fellowship programs and offers strategies for application writing.

This is a drop-in workshop and does not require preregistration.

Those planning to attend are advised to read Gillis’s essay on the ACLS website, "Writing Proposals for ACLS Fellowship Competitions," and to review the sample application narratives on the NEH Fellowships website.
