The Human Rights Seminar invites distinguished scholars across disciplines to present their recent research. Hosting several lectures and a book roundtable each semester, the seminar brings these scholars into conversation with the Berkeley community. 

Elizabeth Anker, Associate Professor of English at Cornell University, works on contemporary world literature, law and literature, and the relationship between aesthetics and politics. Her first book, Fictions of Dignity: Embodying Human Rights in World Literature (2012), examines how liberal human rights discourses and norms depend on the construct of bodily integrity.
